Prof. Nadia Adjoa Sam

Prof. Nadia Adjoa Sam is a paediatrician, clinician-scientist and global health professional who specializes in infectious diseases. She is a Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota USA, and has served as Senior Technical Advisor for pediatric and adolescent HIV at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria since 2010. Prof. Sam is also a faculty of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences in Ghana. Her research applies implementation science to the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases. Prof. Sam has dedicated her expertise to studying malaria, HIV, and TB affecting infants, children and youth in African countries. More recently, she has expanded her scope of work to mpox in West and Central Africa, particularly in Ghana and Nigeria. She has designed and led studies funded by sponsors such as the US National Institutes of Health, the WHO, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the European Commission, and the Wellcome Trust. Prof. Sam contributes to global HIV policy through her membership of WHO committees on paediatric and adolescent HIV. She is an active member of the Nigeria Implementation Science Alliance (NISA) and leads the Central and West Africa Implementation Science Alliance (CAWISA).
