TITLE OF ABSTRACT: Impact of TB Co-infections (HIV, HBV, COVID-19) on Drug Resistance and Immune Response in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients in Cameroon

Mrs Diane KAMDEM THIOMO is a PhD student at the Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Science, University of Yaoundé I (UYI), Cameroon. She conducts her doctoral research on tuberculosis and its co-infections with HIV, Hepatitis B, and COVID-19 at the Laboratory for Tuberculosis Research and Pharmacology (Biotechnology Center of Nkolbisson, UYI). Her thesis project, explores critical challenges in diagnosis methods, drug resistance, treatment, and co-infection impacts on TB transmission dynamic in high burden settings as Cameroon. The project goal is to improve TB detection, treatment efficacy, control and management, and reduce TB transmission. Her work is supported by WISE (Strengthening Gender Capacity in Clinical Research within CANTAM Network) and CANTAM 2, two EDCTP (European and Developping Clinical trials Partnerships), funded project, that have highly contributed in building strong expertise in infectious diseases. Diane has presented her research work at international conferences and participated in numerous scientific seminars and workshops through wich she gained hands-on experience in bacteriology, biochemistry, immunology, and molecular biology through internships at leading laboratories. Her training includes biostatistics, vaccinology, bibliographic resources, Good Clinical Laboratory Practices, leadership and laboratory management. Passionate about translational research, she bridges science and clinical needs and has been a member of the HIGHER Women Consortium since 2017.
