TITLE OF ABSTRACT: Overlooked and Misdiagnosed: Female Genital Schistosomiasis and its Implications for HIV Risk in Endemic Nigerian Communities

Oluwashola Blessing Balogun is a passionate public health professional and Master of Public Health (MPH) candidate specializing in Health Promotion and Education at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. With a strong track record in program management, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and community health interventions, she has worked extensively with NGOs and public health programs across Nigeria to strengthen health systems and improve service delivery.

Oluwashola currently serves as Program Manager at Kids & Teens Resource Centre, leading projects on HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence (GBV) awareness, and youth empowerment. A passionate advocate for young people, she has trained, in person, over 5,000 youths on HIV prevention across multiple states in her country and actively uses LinkedIn and other platforms to engage youths and young adults on health-related issues. She has also served as a Life Coach to many.

She has represented her organization in high-level meetings with policymakers, donors, and implementing partners, amplifying youth voices and championing innovative approaches to public health challenges. Her research interests focus on youth-centered interventions, gender equality, and infectious disease prevention, with a growing commitment to evidence-based strategies for addressing health inequities in low-resource settings.

Oluwashola has contributed to projects funded by the ILO, USAID, APIN Public Health Initiatives, and the Global Fund and completed certifications in gender and health systems strengthening, program management, biomedical HIV prevention research advocacy, and youth sexual and reproductive health.

Recognized for her leadership with varied awards and continues to advance public health in Africa through research, advocacy, and youth-focused engagement.
